The Neuse Country Club is owned by longtime Clayton residents Jerry and Leah Dew, and Jack McDougall. The Dews first acquired the Glen Laurel Pool when they realized that it was in disrepair and an eye-sore for the community. They wanted to restore the pool so that it could be used and enjoyed by local residents. After purchasing the pool, they had the chance also to buy the Neuse Golf Course. They were excited by the opportunity to incorporate the pool and course into a country club for residents of Clayton and the surrounding communities. They desired to create something new and different to benefit their members and the community at large. Having been members of the Neuse Golf Club, they recognized the potential improvements they could make to establish a family-oriented country club that would provide world-class golfing, a pristine pool, dining, member and guest events, a music venue, and recreational activities to the area. The owners are constantly seeking the input of Club and community members to enhance the Club experience.
Since purchasing the pool and course, they have brought in a new management team, made many improvements to the golf course, completed renovations to the facilities, added new events, sponsored tournaments, and have future plans for additional dining options and renovations. The Neuse Country Club has already become a popular destination for members, their guests and area golfers.
